Acadia’s full-time Bachelor of Education (BEd) program is offered in either a 16-month-consecutive or a traditional two-year format. It offers rigorous training to provide you with the broad skill-set needed to teach young children, or the subject-specific expertise required to help students attain more advanced levels of education.
Society will always need teachers and those with the skills an education degree provides, so no matter the economic climate, training as a teacher will render you highly employable. Beyond the classroom, education careers are available in management, administration, research, and counselling roles. A background in education can also be useful for those who work with youth, or generally sharing knowledge. Examples include exhibition curators, community youth workers and social workers. All of these fields offer you the chance to help improve education systems and processes as each adapt to changes and rise to challenges.
Acadia’s full-time Bachelor of Education program allows you to learn in a small, supportive, and challenging class environment. The program is offered in a traditional two-year format, and also a 16-month consecutive format for those wishing to complete their studies earlier. You also get a chance to practice what you’re learning with up to 20 weeks of supervised field experience, including opportunities for local and international field placements in your second year. As a graduate of our program, you will be prepared to take on a teaching position in any number of traditional or non-traditional educational settings.
