As a long standing supporter of students at Medicine Hat College (MHC), a recently signed pledge agreement between Methanex and the college will see that commitment continue for another three years.

Set to start in spring 2022, Methanex has committed to contributing $3000 annually in support of two financial awards for students - $1500 for one Power Engineering Award and $1500 for one Business Operations Award.

In both cases, the selected recipients must demonstrate academic achievement and be entering their third semester of study. The awards will also be allocated to students with financial need and to those who practice volunteerism - aligning with Methanex's global commitment to positively impact and serve the communities in which they operate.

Since the relationship between the two organizations began in 1996, Methanex has generously contributed $85,700 to MHC in both financial and in-kind donations.

"Medicine Hat College is grateful for Methanex's ongoing support of students and education in our community. Their recent pledge will provide financial relief to deserving students as they focus on completing their studies. The impact of Methanex's continuous support of both students and the college over the years is significant and greatly appreciated," says Kevin Shufflebotham, president and CEO of MHC.

The donation was celebrated with a cheque presentation involving Brad Apking, plant manager at Methanex, Kevin Shufflebotham, president and CEO of MHC, Chad Flinn, dean of the School of Trades and Technology at MHC, and Timothy Spielman, dean of the School of Business and Continuing Studies at MHC.

"Partnerships with community leaders like Methanex are imperative for the vitality of the college and our region. We are committed to helping learners realize their goals, and it's through collaboration with community partners and employers that we are able to stay aligned with industry needs and fulfill that commitment."
