BA (Hons) Theatre, Festival and Event Production is a highly practical programme that teaches you a wide range of design, management and technical skills. The course prepares you for the practical challenges of working on live productions in a variety of different mediums, venues and settings. If you are an enthusiastic, hard working and imaginative individual, this is the course for you. The programme recognises the ever-evolving nature of the profession and the growing demand for highly skilled designers, managers and technicians to produce and operate productions. Our training covers all aspects of production skills to prepare you for the workplace. Tutors encourage you to experiment, practice and develop key skills across a wide range of production disciplines. These include Stage Management; Scenic Design; Scenic Construction; Scenic Art; Prop Making; Costume; Lighting; Sound and Digital Production. You receive comprehensive training in all areas of Health and Safety to ensure that all activities adhere to the best industry practice in accordance with the national guidelines and in preparation for the workplace. The programme is highly collaborative and allows you to engage with many other courses within the University as well as guest Directors and external production companies. You will work alongside Acting, Dance, Drama, Music, Commercial Music and Film and TV students on a range of production projects. All professionally staged productions are interdisciplinary projects that work across many different events and performance types. Your tutors are experienced industry professionals, who provide practical tuition through live performance and practical projects. Through our industry work placements, industry links and guest lecture visits we provide networking opportunities while you study. We encourage development of skills through practice and repetition in live scenarios, to enable you to select your own skills pathways based on your experience and interests.
