Description

Overview

Crime science is an evolving field that takes the fluid nature of our country’s demographics and advances in technology into account. Recent technological developments in law enforcement have had far-reaching effects on police agencies. Information technology, DNA testing, and body-worn cameras, for instance, are now common and have become critical tools in law enforcement. Contemporary concerns over homeland security and counter terrorism have also created new technological problems and demands for police agencies, as has the growth of computer-related crime.

FIU's online BS in Crime Science combines forensics and computer science with traditional criminology and criminal justice. The program produces graduates with sophisticated analytical skills needed for the new era of law enforcement within the U.S. and abroad.
