The International Studies Department is home to a dynamic interdisciplinary undergraduate program that provides students with the tools necessary to critically analyze the problems facing their communities and the world and to participate in the development of solutions informed by an ethic of social justice.
Research and writing are the most important and most emphasized aspects of the undergraduate curriculum. Students develop efficient and careful research techniques that enable them to confidently investigate a problem. International Studies (INT) courses ask students to locate, read and understand source material in all the disciplines, as well as government documents and electronic databases. By the time of graduation, INT students command the basic analytical vocabularies of geography, political science, micro and macroeconomics, and cultural anthropology.
Opportunities for internships, community service, study abroad programs, conference presentations, and student organization involvement round out the undergraduate curriculum.
