1. Application along with supporting documents will be processed on TEN Agent portal.
2. Non-refundable application fee of CAD $90 will be charged from the student and it will be paid by credit card only
3. Student will receive the admission offer either conditional or unconditional on his TEN Agent portal.After accepting the offer Fee invoice will be generated on student account.
4.After getting the fee invoice student can pay the fee and fee receipt can be found on TEN Portal (Ten Agents)

CO 118 Communication Skills - 3 credits
This communications course focuses on the development of academic and practical Human Services related writing skills. Students develop critical thinking skills and strategies for integrating their own ideas with those of other authors following APA guidelines for quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing source material. Students also develop skills in resume and cover letter writing, and in crafting other written documents used in the human services related workplace. Pre/co-requisites: None
ED 109 ELCC Practicum I - 5 credits
This course is a beginning practicum with emphasis on observation and practical experience in working with children. Students begin programming based on observations of children's needs and interests. Students incorporate Early Learning and Child Care philosophy in a work place experience. P/F. Co-requisites: Students must have completed or be in the process of successfully completing 4 courses including HS 180 with an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater
ED 110 ELCC Practicum II - 5 credits
This course is an advanced practicum with emphasis on programming based on observation of children's needs and interests. Students incorporate Early Learning and Child Care philosophy in a work place experience. P/F. Prerequisites: ED 109. Co-requisites: Students must have completed or be in the process of successfully completing 8 courses with an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater
ED 120 Play - 3 credits
This course is an overview of the significance of play in the development of the child. It includes nature and development of play in the environment and explores how early childhood educators co-construct meaningful play experiences with the child and their family. Special consideration is given to designing responsive environments and focusing on children's natural disposition to learn in both indoor and outdoor play spaces. Pre/co-requisites: None
HE 158 Health, Safety & Nutrition - 3 credits
This course examines the health, safety, and nutrition needs of young children. It includes practical applications for supporting these needs in an early childhood environment. Pre/co-requisites: none
HS 114 Human Development I - 3 credits
This course provides students with an understanding of the developing child from birth to five years. It traces the changes that occur physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually during this period in an individual's life. Pre/co-requisites: None
HS 115 Exploring Exceptionalities I - 3 credits
This course provides an introduction to children and youth with exceptionalities by examining the categories and characteristics of diversity. Issues pertinent to children with exceptionalities and their families are explored. Pre/co-requisites: none
HS 155 Positive Behaviour Supports - 3 credits
The course includes an examination of attitudes, values, and skills within a holistic approach to support social and emotional development in terms of positive behaviours. Opportunities for examining the dynamics of behavior are provided. This course also discusses various strategies to support the development of social and emotional skills and prosocial behavior. Pre/co-requisites: None
HS 180 Creative Curriculum - 3 credits
This course is an exploration of curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation in the areas of art, games, movement and music. These curriculum areas are explored within the framework of a play oriented, interactionist approach. This approach enables students to design and implement interactive activities for children. Students are provided the opportunity to acquire strategies for supporting the development of children within the preschool, school and community setting. Pre/co-requisites: None
HS 182 Applied Curriculum - 3 credits
This course is an exploration of curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation in the areas of children’s literature, language arts, math and science. Students have opportunity to research, design and implement interactive activities with children. Emphasis is placed on supporting the developmental needs of children in the preschool, school and community setting. Prerequisites: HS 180
HS 214 Human Development II - 3 credits
This course assists students in understanding the changes--physical, cognitive, social, and personality--that take place from middle childhood through to adulthood. Theoretical perspectives of human development are examined, providing a comparison of various assumptions and principles about growth and behaviour. Prerequisites: HS 114
ED 230 ELCC Practicum III - 5 credits
This first practicum in the second year emphasizes working with children, administrators, and families. Students develop and operate a community-based children's program where they plan and organize their day with guidance from supervising personnel. Students spend 150 hours planning, implementing, and evaluating a childcare project, and 50 hours participating in individual group and feedback sessions. P/F. Prerequisites: Early Learning and Child Care Certificate. Co-requisites: Students must have completed or be in the process of successfully completing 4 second year courses including ED 243 with an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater.
ED 231 ELCC Practicum IV - 5 credits
This practicum in the second year is designed for students to demonstrate the knowledge gained from their early learning and child care courses through the examination of the operation of an approved child care setting. This practicum involves the creation of a portfolio which demonstrates reflective practice, including program planning for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, the creation of learning stories, an analysis of administrative responsibilities and the environment. Prerequisites: ED 230 with a GPA of 2.0 or greater. Co-requisites: Students must have completed or be in the process of successfully completing 8 courses in Early Learning and Child Care program with an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater.
ED 235 Organizational Relationships - 3 credits
This course integrates a humanistic perspective into the organizational frameworks of early childhood settings. Students explore policy and procedure in conjunction with the needs of children, staff, parents, and community. Prerequisites: Early Learning and Child Care Certificate
ED 238 Early Childhood Foundations - 3 credits
This course explores the historical, philosophical and social influences that have formed the basis of early education and care programs. This exploration involves examining the views of early advocates (educators, philosophers, theorists) and the prevailing social conditions, which have led to the development of the wide range of programs available today. Issues influencing early childhood education and care today are also examined. Prerequisites: Early Learning and Child Care Certificate
ED 243 Curriculum Theory - 3 credits
This course is designed to enable students to apply observation skills, documentation, and curriculum approaches to develop program planning in early learning settings. It examines narrative descriptions and the implementation of an emergent curriculum through play with respect to a child centered and educator facilitated approach. Prerequisites: Early Learning and Child Care Certificate.
HS 202 Leadership Activities - 3 credits
This course explores the link between the developmental needs of children and youth and community programming. Students research and analyze community needs and resources through the lens of engaging children/youth. Students plan program experiences to benefit children and youth. Emphasis is placed on developing leadership and group management skills while initiating a variety of activities, which enhance opportunities for children/youth in the community. Pre/co-requisites: none
HS 225 Exploring Exceptionalities II - 3 credits
This course explores strategies to enable individuals with exceptionalities to succeed in inclusive and other settings. Students examine exceptionalities as well as assessment, planning, and resources for individuals with exceptionalities. Prerequisites: HS 115
HS 230 Sensory Development - 3 credits
This course examines brain development and sensory processing as it relates to planning activities for children. Special emphasis is placed on sensory processing disorder. This course explores strategies in relation to designing and adapting environments to meet the needs of children. Pre/co-requisites: None
HS 240 Family Studies - 3 credits
This course is an introduction to the Family. The focus of this course includes various ways of viewing family, diversity, economics, and social influences that determine the family's ability to thrive in society. Students have the opportunity to explore different theoretical ways of viewing the family. The course also explores issues of marriage, variations in families, parenting, crises, separation, divorce, and remarriage as well as provides practical suggestions in working with families as they face many challenges. Pre/co-requisites: None
HS 242 Interpersonal Relationships - 3 credits
This course is designed to develop interpersonal communication skills individually and in group situations as they pertain to the field of Human Services. It examines self-esteem and interpersonal relationship resolution skills needed for working with individuals and groups, families and colleagues. Pre/co-requisites: None
SS 245 Infant & Toddler Care - 3 credits
Students taking the online version of Early Learning and Child Care are required to take HS 270 and HS 271 in place of ED 230 and ED 231.
HS 270 ELCC Practicum III - 5 credits
This practicum in the second year emphasizes reflective practice related to the operation of an approved child care setting. Students complete a portfolio and implement programming with mentorship from a director. For this practicum, the focus is on analyzing current practice within a work integrated setting in relation to courses. P/F. Prerequisites: Early Learning and Child Care Certificate. Co-requisites: Students must have completed or be in the process of successfully completing 4 second year courses including ED 243 with an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater.
HS 271 Virtual Play Program Practicum - 5 credits
This course is the concluding practicum of the second year Early Learning and Child Care program. Reflecting and building on their learning experiences of the previous practicum, students plan, set up, implement, and evaluate an early learning and child care program with guidance from supervising personnel. P/F. Co-requisites: Students must have completed or be in the process of successfully completing 8 second year courses in Early Learning and Child Care program with overall GPA of 2.0 or greater.
