Because the healthcare industry is dynamic and ever-evolving, there is a high demand for professionals with business acumen and a strong understanding of healthcare systems and policies.
With a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management, you will gain the insight you will need to become a successful future leader in the many sectors of the healthcare field, including at payer and provider organizations, non-profits, and biotechnology and biomedical device organizations. In this program, you will hone your analytical and problem-solving skills while acquiring broad-based functional knowledge of current legal and regulatory standards in healthcare, healthcare revenue cycle, financial analysis, health data analytics, marketing and sales, and human resource management.
During internships and experiential learning opportunities, you will gain the real-world experience and connections you will need in your future career. In the first year of the program, students are given the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of sectors in the healthcare field through volunteer placements. Students then progress in the second year of the program to shadowing professionals, an experience that helps them gain insight into the field and explore their career interests. Then, in the third year, students work closely with faculty to finalize internship placements at some of the nation’s leading healthcare institutions, companies, and organizations. The fourth year of the program includes an internship of up to thirty hours per week, as well as career preparation seminars. During the summer, students are encouraged to find meaningful opportunities to apply the newly developed skills. All of these experiences combine to prepare students to seamlessly transition to successful future careers in healthcare management.
