UFV’s 21-credit Diaspora Studies certificate focuses on the study of the migration and resettlement of people across national borders in response to historical, political, and social forces.
At the intersection of English, Anthropology, History, India-Canada Studies, Political Science, and Sociology, the UFV Diaspora Studies Certificate prepares you to be a thoughtful, informed and engaged citizen in an increasingly complex world.
You start your Diaspora Studies with a core “Culture and Theory of Diaspora” course that investigates the phenomenon of diaspora in modern, postcolonial, and global contexts. Then choose to complete your certificate through either a coursework or an internship/service learning option.
