Description

There is a growing demand for skilled trade workers in Canada, and Conestoga College is meeting this demand by offering a variety of skilled trades education. Are you interested in learning how to become a welder or metal fabricator? This program might be right for you! This one-year program covers all the theoretical and practical learning outcomes for Level 1 of both the Welder (456A) and Metal Fabricator – Fitter (437A) apprenticeship programs in Ontario. As a student in this program, you will have the opportunity to develop welding skills in our state-of-the-art facility, using modern equipment with the common arc welding processes such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW or 'stick'), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW or 'MIG'), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW or 'TIG'). If you decide to pursue an apprenticeship in either trade, you may be exempt from this level of in-school training.
